Hair Removal Pre-Treatment Products
Skin Rejuvenation / Pigmentation Aftercare
- Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment (unless we’ve told you otherwise). This helps the treatment work more effectively.
- No waxing, tweezing, or depilatory creams for at least 2–3 weeks before — we need the hair follicle intact.
- Gently exfoliate the area a day or two before to remove dead skin and help prevent ingrown hairs.
- Skip lotions, oils, deodorant, or makeup on the treatment area on the day of your appointment.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including sunbeds) for at least 48 hours beforehand.
- Stay clear of other treatments (like peels or retinoids) on the area for 5–7 days before your session.
- Let us know if you're using any prescription skincare, antibiotics, or have had recent changes in your health.
- Do not shave for 48–72 hrs after treatment. Do not pluck, tweeze, thread or wax treated hair.
- This prevents mild infection in damaged follicles.
- Hair will drop out naturally over days and weeks; regrowth varies by body area.
- You can shave between clinic treatments.
- Avoid bleaching creams or perfumed products for 24–48 hrs. Avoid waxing, as it removes the base of the hair targeted by the laser/IPL device.
- Treated skin may be red, warm, and bumpy for up to 24 hrs. If uncomfortable or itchy, cool with a cold facial towel and apply aftercare cream.
- If you have concerns, please contact your Laser/Pulsed light clinician.
- Avoid tight clothing. Keep the area clean and dry.
- You can resume deodorant/antiperspirant after 24 hrs (if underarms were treated).
To cleanse and exfoliate your skin pre-treatment, we recommend
- Darkening of pigmented areas is normal. A fine dry crust or scale may form and will flake off over 7–14 days.
- Do not pick or scratch — moisturiser can help soothe it.
- Avoid rough handling of the treated area.
- Any skin responses are temporary and will subside.
- Treated skin may be red, warm, and bumpy for up to 24 hrs.
- If uncomfortable, cool with a cold facial towel and apply aftercare provided.
- Contact your clinician if concerns arise.
- Use gentle cleansers developed for sensitive skin for 2 days post-treatment. Be gentle when drying or rubbing.
- Use sunblock (min SPF 30+) on your face and consider protective cotton gloves for driving, plus wear a hat to protect facial areas.
- Swelling can occur and usually subsides within 24–48 hrs; in rare cases, it may last several days.
- Bruising may occur, especially when targeting small vascular imperfections.
- It will generally heal and fade within a few days.
